Owner and Baseball Professional

Coach Marcus

Baseball Professional Focused on Long-Term Development

  • I am a dedicated Baseball Professional with a deep commitment to the mental and physical long-term development of my players.

For me, coaching goes beyond simply teaching the skills of the game. It's about fostering a positive and nurturing environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the field. I strongly believe that the mental aspect of the game is more important than the physical. As a result, I prioritize the psychological well-being of my players, helping them build resilience, confidence, and a strong mindset.

When it comes to physical development, I take a holistic approach. I emphasize the importance of proper technique, conditioning, and injury prevention. I'm a firm believer in the power of strength and conditioning training tailored to each individual's needs. By focusing on long-term physical development, I aim to enhance my players' skills, endurance, and overall performance while minimizing the risk of injuries.

As a caring coach, I strive to build strong relationships with my players. I'm a good listener and always encourage open communication. I value the unique qualities and strengths that each player brings to the team, and I'm dedicated to helping them unlock their full potential. I am fully committed to creating a supportive and inclusive team culture where everyone feels valued and motivated to excel.

Beyond the game, I'm passionate about teaching life skills that extend far beyond the baseball field. I aim to instill values such as discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, which can positively impact my players' lives both now and in the future.

  • 2Smooth Baseball was started due to wanting to share my work ethic, knowledge, love for the game, and experience in developing players on and off the field.

My time at Shiloh High School left me with many achievements. In 2012, I was 1st team All-County for Gwinnett County, I was selected to be on the All-Region team and was in the top 50 players in Georgia. In 2013 I was selected to the Senior Gwinnet County team, set the record for the most doubles in a single season, and had a career average of .457.

I graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College with my bachelor’s in criminology where I played baseball for all 4 years. I was a NAIA First Team All-American in 2017, 2018 NAIA world series semifinalist and received an All-American honorable mention in the NAIA the same year. I held 10 All-Time Records for GGC; including games started with 207, At-Bats with 720, stolen bases with 142 and many, many more.

After I graduated, I started my career in coaching as the Head Infield Coach with Briar Cliff University and graduated there with a Masters in Sports Management in 2020. As the Head Infield Coach for the Briar Cliff Chargers for 3 seasons I helped turn around their defensive approach by creating a more in-depth infield program that encouraged development, consistency, accountability, and overall knowledge of situational baseball. The Chargers went from an .800 fielding team to a reliable .946 in just the first season and continued to improve in the years that followed.

I have also coached collegiate summer league teams, high school teams, and travel ball teams. I have found success in the win column and getting the most out of my players at multiple levels. I encourage a lot fun by bringing great energy to the field every day. I love baseball to its core and it shows in my coaching abilities.

Coach Zack Bogardts

Baseball Professional with Advanced Catching Techniques

About Me:

I’ve grown up playing the game of baseball for 15 years of my life. Once I turned 19 I decided to further my education in business and stop playing baseball. I would miss the game almost every day. However, at 28 years old I took on a job to become the assistant coach of Shiloh high school baseball. I can’t describe the passion I have to share my knowledge of the game. Playing catcher and 1st base I have lots of knowledge to share defensively. Along with being a contact hitter I can help grow knowledge and confidence at the plate.
